Jenex V2-XL98RM
Skate Rollerskis
skis for paved surfaces

This is a fantastic skate ski for smooth pavement. It provides an excellent simulation of skate skiing.
WHY A COMPOSITE SHAFT? Most roller skis are made of aluminum. It’s a wonderful material and when using shock absorbing pneumatic tires the ride is smooth. Aluminum has a low fatigue resistance so the shaft has to be very stiff and when using solid rubber tires the shafts can produce a rough ride on some surfaces. Composite shafts have high fatigue resistance and can be made to flex so the shaft absorbs some of the road vibration. The shafts have a lighter core and to obtain the best combination of flexural and torsional strength they use both unidirectional and biaxial carbon fiber. To further increase the strength of the composite, the shafts are cured in a high pressure autoclave. The new shafts have good flex characteristics for both light skiers and skiers up to about 87 kilograms or 190 pounds.
The 98mm solid tires roll over miner imperfections in the pavement. The abrasion resistant solid rubber tires are easy to replace on the split rim design of the wheels.
With the help of a new test machine they were able to develop a better compound. By using this test tool they could precisely measure the abrasion resistance of different blends. They evaluated over 20 different rubber compositions. Some had good abrasion resistance, but were slow and generated too much heat. Others had good rolling characteristics and low heat build up, but poor abrasion resistance. They have never found a reliable abrasion tester so they had to develop their own. The rubber manufacturer was amazed by the simplicity and accuracy of this device and wants one for their own use.
With V2 you get a lot more than two wheels and a shaft. You get control. V2 is the only brand to offer patented Speed Reducers and Brakes.
Vary your speed with the optional ATR Speed Reducers to gain control on descents. The patented Speed Reducers have been praised by skiers from all over the world. In some
locations it would be impossible to roller ski safely without using the Speed Reducers.
The roller arms were recently modified so it is now much easier to engage and disengage the lever. The Speed Reducer has a neutral and four resistance positions.
Most of us are not anatomically balanced, so even if the wheels and bindings are perfectly
aligned the ski might pull in one direction.
The Speed Reducer lever makes it very easy align the wheels for proper tracking.
They use only the finest hardware. The wheel bolts are custom made in 7075T6 aluminum with an anodic coating. The bolts are strong and 60% lighter than steel. Most of the other hardware is made of stainless steel.
Add brakes for safety and flexibility.

Jenex V2-XL98SL Aluminum Skate Rollerskis
skis for paved surfaces

This is a fantastic skate ski for smooth pavement. It provides an excellent simulation of skate skiing.
The 98SL uses the same wheels and tires as
the XL98R skate ski. The wheels are mounted on an existing aluminum frame which is much less expensive to produce than the composite frame. The 98SL accepts the same optional Speed Reducers as the XL98R, but due to the older frame construction the brake for this ski is a more economical one instead of the XL brake.
Special Air Pump $39.95
The mountain bike shock pump is an essential item for use with pneumatic roller skis. Many bicycle pumps cannot be used to inflate the Aero
tires. We modify the pump to make it easier to thread onto the Schraeder valve. Most tube failures are a result of not inflating the tires before every
roller ski session. The tires must also be inflated about ten pounds above suggested tire pressure as when you untread the pump there is always some air loss.

Jenex V2 XL 125 Skate Rollerskis
skis for both paved and non-paved surfaces

The XL125S and 150S have free wheels and can only be used for skating. The XL125S has 125 mm wheels while the XL150S has 150 mm wheels. The 125's are lighter and than the 150's. The 125mm tires are ideal for pavement and smooth dirt roads. Suitable for skiers under 77 kilograms or 170 pounds. Because of the larger wheels, the XL150 can negotiate rougher terrain and is better for heavier skiers.
Wheel forks have been redesigned to make them stiffer and stronger without increasing the weight. The rear fork has also been modified to accept the new XL brake. The same shaft is used for both the 125S and the 150S. There are two hole locations for the wheel bolts so the ground clearance is virtually the same whether you are using the 150 or 125 mm wheels.
With V2 you get a lot more than two wheels and a shaft. You get control. V2 is the only brand to offer patented Speed Reducers and Brakes.
The new XL Speed Reducers are designed to accomodate both the 125 and 150 wheels. The bearings are now mounted in such a manner that they can easily be moved for either the 125 or 150. The new lever is designed so pressure is applied to both serrated roller arms for improved pressure distribution. For the Aero 150 the system has one neutral position and 4 resistance settings and the 125 has 3 resistance positions. The ATR functions equally well in both dry and wet conditions.
The ATR Speed Reducer assembly is made from aluminum, stainless steel and nylon. The lever is easy to grab and pivots on solid stainless steel pins. Nylon rollers and washers are used to reduce noise generated by vibration from skiing on rough surfaces. Almost all Aero skis are sold with the Speed Reducer system.
Maximum tire pressure is 90 PSI on these pneumatic tires. The rubber tires are 6.5 ply tough. Vary your speed with the optional ATR speed reducers to gain control on descents and add brakes for safety and flexibility.
When adjusted properly, the brake does not touch the leg until you adapt the braking position. This Telemark braking position is also the most stable position for braking as the forward leg acts like a brace and keeps you from falling forward as you decelerate.
We recommend that you carry a spare complete wheel assembly while skiing, just incase you get a flat. Then you only have to change the wheel while you are out and reserve changing the tube at your convenience in the comfort of your home.
We also recommend you fill the tubes with Specialized Airlock Tire Sealant (see below).

V2Aero Tire Changing Station

The only drawback to pneumatic tires on roller skis or Skykes is that you may get a flat, just like on a bicycle. The unique situation we have with the roller ski tires is with their small size and holding them securely while trying to get them off and on. Those sleepless nights at Jenex has paid off. I am confident to say that it does make tire changing easy. The above link is connected to a short movie that demonstrates how it works

Jenex V2 XL9848 Classic Rollerskis
skis for both paved and non-paved surfaces

Years ago Jenex came out with the Terra Roller Ski. It was labeled as a solid rubber all terain roller ski. It was heavy, and it didn't have alot of exceptance. It took years of trying to replace that roller ski. Jenex came out with the pnematic ones, XL 125/150. They too have their challenges. Guess what all those people who did buy the Terra silenly loved them and used them. Jenex got no feedback. So they did not support the model by not making the replacement wheels available. Eventually they did get great feedback so they decided to bring them back. The benefit of having a heavier roller ski was that it made you stronger and that it was more stable. The larger wheel could roll over obstacles.
