Fast Skis?
What is it under the label that makes a particular ski fast? The secret is selection of size and flex for your skill, technique, track and weight. Even among the best, identically marked and sized skis there is wide variation of flex. That is why we have invested in the most sophisticated flex-testing equipment. I personally select skis to fit you. Order early to ensure the best selection. —Saul

How do you make the lightest racing skis even lighter? Fischer eliminated wood sidewalls and replaced them with honeycomb and carbon fibre. Carbon reinforced the tips and tails for light swingweight for the fastest most responsive action skating and classic skiing.
|
Better swing-weight results from Fischer’s latest design innovation. The 3-D tip/tail concentrates ski mass at the skate pivot point. The result is even quicker effortless tempo. This ski accelerates and climbs like no other skate ski. The wider centre results in less lateral movement and more efficient forward glide. The quick tempo promotes aggressive climbing. The glide phase, as always, is fast and stable.
|
|
Fischer has set the standard by which all other skis are compared. The 3-D tip/tail speeds your tempo with less tip and tail mass. The flex pattern has optimal wax bite and propulsion with superb glide allowing you to keep these speed demons snaking through the track where others bail out.
|
They produce the fastest boots and bindings and now the fastest skis to match. Take advantage of the lightweight responsive Aerolite Body, Nomex honeycomb core and fast G5 Zeolite base. Flatter camber and optimal torsional rigidity gives you more than just matching graphics.
|
|
Beta construction results in a ski that tracks and corners like no other. The Beta’s extended edge gives unmatched bite in hardpacked snow or ice for maximum control and power transfer. The Nomex honeycomb core offers maximum weight bearing strength with minimal weight.
|
Enjoy stability and highspeed cornering that Beta Technology offers. These skis are rugged and fast, with an edge that invites quick action on hardpacked snow. The unltralight Densolite core offers excellent strength with minimal weight.

This is the ultimate secret weapon. Waxless skis don’t get any faster than these babies. They are great for training and racing in some tricky conditions.
|
Improve your classic skiing overnight with this performance-oriented fun ski. Fischer has lowered the camber and made the wax pocket grip easier without sacrificing glide. The result is a slightly shorter (-7cm) more manoeuvrable classic ski.
Citizen and high school racers will love this ski. The unique Beta technology has trickled down to an economical foam core performance ski.

If you ski mostly off-track, this is the ski for you. The 60-52-57mm profile will have you floating on the fluffy stuff. The narrow 52mm waist makes downhill cornering a breeze. Uphills are more than manageable with Fischer’s exclusive Single/Double Crown waxless base.
Wax less and ski more on groomed trails or ungroomed trails with this 52mm ski. This is a great ski for new or occasional skiers.

Our Skis Fit You!
Ski-nal-y-sisNew Computerized
3D Dynamic Ski Flex Analysis
Skis need to evenly distribute your weight on snow for effective glide and edge control for turning, stopping and skate propulsion. Classic skis also have to be flexible enough to allow the waxed grip zone to be pressed into the snow when your weight is concentrated on one ski as you kick. They have to be stiff enough to lift the grip zone (under your foot) off the snow when your weight is balanced over both skis. This keeps the grip wax from dragging in the snow and shortening the glide phase. Our new computerized system provides the most accurate analysis. Whether you skate, classic or do both I will custom select and flex-test skis to match your weight, technique and experience. We measure the actual pressure transmitted through the base of the ski to the snow at various applied skier weights from 0- 250+lbs at 60 locations along the ski's length. That is how we know if the ski is right for you.-Saul
Do your skis fit?
We were very fortunate when we bought our first pair of cross country skis. They had not been tested. But as luck would have it, we had a great time. And it allowed us to introduce cross country skiing to our children, they in turn introduced it to their partners, it motivated us to open up a cross country ski store, and Saul enjoys traveling around the world to participate in different cross country ski loppets. Saul and I roller ski all year long to keep up our technique, timing and balance for the cross country ski season.
There are many reasons why cross country skiing isn’t enjoying the boom it did in the eighties. It could be because we haven’t had consistent snow in this city or in the rest of Canada since then. It could be that people didn’t originally get fitted with the right equipment and their experience was so poor that they didn’t stay with it. We can’t do anything about the weather but we are personally determined to fix ski fit.
When we first opened our store over twenty-one years ago, Saul decided to look at the information available to us from the manufacturers. The manufacturers acknowledge that they recommend a very broad range of weight for each ski size. Without any more information than that, they depend on the store’s expertise to pick the correct ski for the customer. He felt it was not good enough for our mailorder business and he needed more information to help him match the right skis to the right person without them being in the store. Saul heard about an expensive testing tool called the “Flex Select”. It is a simple pressure testing system that tells us where the camber is, with different amounts of applied weight and the length of camber. It only worked up to 150lbs. We used this system for many years. Still, Saul was always on the lookout to know more.
One day Ron Mitchell, a triathlete and customer/friend came into our store and he told Saul that when he was an engineering student at Waterloo, he built a ski tester for the national ski team. With today’s technology he could build something even better. So together they started working on it. Saul needed it to provide a detailed analysis of the characteristics of each ski.
We have been using this new system now for a few years. This weekend Saul and I tested our first delivery of this winter’s skis. Part of the ski test gives us a sticker with each ski’s characteristics on it. Then Saul translates that information to skier weight, so that our staff can have a starting point. We can pick a ski for you from this narrow weight range, whether you are a recreational or elite skier. We then demonstrate to you that the ski fits with the traditional “paper test". However if you are a mailorder customer we ask "Master Saul" to pick skis for you. --Beverley
