Cycling the Golden Triangle
In June 2011, Saul joined a group of cyclists from the USA on their first tour of the Canadian Rockies.

Golden Triangle Spans Alberta and British Columbia
I love the Rocky Mountains. Over the years, we have taken our kids there on camping holidays, cycled on it's roads with fully loaded touring bikes, with lightweight racing bikes, off-road with mountain bikes and cross-country skied on it's varied trails. When I was offered the opportunity to ride the Golden Triangle with a group of American friends from Denver, I jumped at the chance. The Golden Triangle is a classic Rocky Mountain tour. It takes in some of the best scenery in the world. This four sided triangle extends from Banff, Alberta to Radium Hotsprings in British Columbia to Golden, BC through the town of Field, BC to scenic Lake Louise, AB and back to Banff, AB. From north of Lake Louise we explored my favourite road in the world, the Icefields Parkway. We road up to the highpoint on this amazing road to the Bow Summit. From Banff we explored Sulphur Mountain, Lake Minnewanka, Canmore and Tunnel Mountain. The American cyclists were great sports and took our mostly cold and wet weather in stride. Compared to riding in Europe the Rocky Mountains have shorter gradual elevation gains making this a great route to ride for cyclists of all abilities. I shot hours of video with my GoPro HD video camera and I hope you enjoy the highlights.--Saul
